Long Island Spirits was established in 2007 as the first distillery on Long Island since the 1800s and the 100th distillery in the US. Although we might forget, Long Island is a hotbed of agriculture with corn, potato, and rye farms. The distillery is located in the North Fork which is mostly known for its wine and relaxing beaches. They pride themselves on a sweet mash and mature out on Long Island.
The name comes from Teddy Roosevelt, a native Long Islander, who organized the United States First Volunteer Cavalry known as the Rough Riders. These men cherished adventure, independence, and excellence. “Speak softly and carry a big stick”.
This NYS Rye Whiskey is made out of 93% winter rye and 7% malted barley.
